Random cutting out, possibly Aircon issue?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Random cutting out, possibly Aircon issue?

Post by A75stevie »

I have a UK spec S80 T6. Ive done the transmission flush, and replaced the radiator after finding ATF in the coolant. The car now seems fine, but will cut out as if the ignition has been switched off, and does it without warning, usually when slowing down It has been known to do it at idle, too. It restarts straight away and runs normally. This can be exciting, to say the least, especially at junctions. If you're travelling at normal speeds, it will miss one beat, then keep going.
My inexpert suspicions are aimed at the aircon, as it used to hunt on startup if the aircon was switched on. It only does this if the aicon is on, so I'm assuming it's connected in some way. Any ideas, guys?
Many thanks for taking the time to read this,
Steve.

Yes, 2.8 twin turbo. Just been out in it again, no aircon switched on, but still doing it. It feels electrical, as there's no warning, it's as if the ignition has been switched off.
