2002 XC70 Mileage not showing after dead battery

Post by raphymend »

Hello,
First time poster here.

I got my hands on a 2002 Volvo Xc70
Battery died, jump started and the mileage and trip meter dont work as well as stereo is off, (aftermarket stereo)
I disconnected battery to see if it would reset and it did however i managed to have a dead batt again, so now its back
to stereo and mileage dont show anymore.

Any help appreciated..

You have to be careful jump starting as you can damage electronics with the boost packs. The small ones are fine, the ones used at the school bus depots are not - as I found out with my 1999.

Get you battery fully charged and see if your stuff comes back - it does not like low voltages

as for mileage and trip meter there is a bulb behind so check it first.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

I took to mechanic and he changed the sensor maf for the turbo as i had a check engine light. Now i take it and he warned me about abs and that lights may light up in the future. picture attached hopefully people can see on here. Questions is how do i replace the abs sensor, as well as he mentioned the speedsensor is needed according to his computer diagnostic.

THe mileage shows now after battery restart but stereo still not on, its an aftermarket stereo by the way.

Thanks guys

Seems you have bad BCM module.

Whenever jump starting or disconnecting/reconnecting the battery, have the ignition key in position II (headlights on). This helps prevent any power surge that can cause issues.

When did the brake/ABS show up? Is it related with the battery going flat? To reset everything, you can disconnect the + terminal for 12h.

While the ABS sensors do go bad, the first thing to check is the ABS reluctor rings on the axles, they get rusty or even crack.

Update,
Had someone replace fuel sensor, now ABS module needs to be changed/fixed since its now throwing or been throwing out abs lights on dash, i have a code reader and can erase codes but they come back after about 30miles of driving. Anyone know of some guys who can repair these? heard buying another one would require a hefty price on flashing or reprogram. Thanks!
