Post by jbone »

Ok so i have a 03 volvo v70 2.4t. I need to replace the thermostat. does anyone know if theres any other thermostats i can use rather than having to order the Gates TH35991? maybe theres one similiar i can buy in the states instead of having to buy that one or having to replace the housing because i cannot afford it.. thanks

It's the whole deal or nothing on a 2003 Volvo unfortunately. Look at the Beck Arnley site for a number matchup and look up that part number on Amazon. Perhaps not as pricey as Gates?? The Beck Arnleys are made in Italy and I have one here; lools well made.

Why don't you get the Gates TH35991 and install it and report back whether it works or not?
Rockauto dot com sells it for ~ $18.

About 3 years ago when I started to research this 2001 plus thermostat oddity there weren't any other options. Last year I bought the Beck Arnley assembly (143-0865) for my wife's 2002XC70. It's still sitting in the box.

Only problem with just changing the thermostat is that ideally the temp sensor should be done as well. I now notice some sellers providing the temp sensor separately as well.
