Cannot Reset Memory on Seats in 2008 C70

I just bought a used 2008 C70 with 45,000 miles in great condition. I've read the owner's manual, read all relevant posts I can find, and watched all YouTube videos on changing the memory positions 1/2/3 on my drivers seat. I set the mirrors and seat position, hold down the "M" while simultaneously pressing the 1 position (single punch). It doesn't work. When I back the seat up and test it by holding down the #1 button, it moves back into the previous owner's set position. Must have been an elder ladt by the way it scrunches me up into the dashboard. When I hold the "M" down and press the #1 button for more the a second thinking I've got to hold both down simultaneously for a second or two, it starts moving. I only have one key so there's no issue with another key saving seat positions when the car is turned off. Any suggestions on how to rest the current memory setting others than what I described? I haven't found a post with a similar situation.
