XC tail lights on 855t question and alternator compatibility.

These subjects have been covered I know. Found a cherry set of upper, lower tail lights from 2000 XC and would like to swap them for my faded 855 tails. I need the bulb holders, apparently ? Any other problems with fitment here? I expect not but wanted to be sure. Also, while I'm at it, I need an alternator but I think after 1998 there was a change the part #'s are different so a 2000 model won't fit 96 855? Thanks.

I think the tail lights bolt just fine from what I have heard. I've never tried it.

The alternator is definitely different both in terms of mounting and the direction it runs. The direction wouldn't be an issue except that the pulley is clutched and it disengages if it turns backwards.

Are you sure that won't make the lights suck in the light and leave too cylinders of darkness??

I think the tail lights are a direct replacement... never heard anything about different bulb holders.
Awaiting Robert's (rspi) response on this one... I know he's done it.

They will fit perfectly.
The only difference are white turn signals instead of orange ones.
