2008 S60 2.5T Front Strut Question

Does the front strut have a rubber seat between the actual strut and the spring or the lower side of the spring? Volvo parts does not show one but Monroe sells one. This would be like a rubber insulator for metal to metal contact between the spring and strut. Again this is the lower side of the spring. Thank you.

Don't know for the 2008 models, but on earlier models there is none. The spring sits directly on the metal frame around the strut and it doesn't move. I see no reasons why there would be such insulator other than for a little extra damping smoothness perhaps or to prevent the paint at the bottom of the spring to crack and cause the spring to rust - spring breaking because of rust is not uncommon

Thank you. I did order them but then realized Volvo does not show them. I will see how they fit the spring and lower strut spring holder when I do the install.

I think there was an update in later years. When I replaced suspension on 02 there was lower insulator listed in VIDA (2011 or 2012 IIRC), original suspension didn't have it. For 05 there was upper insulator also, originally was not there.

My feeling is that these insulators lower road noise.
