Throttle hunting after XeModeX ETM rebuild -- '99 S70 base
Christian -- Feel free to ignore since I already sent a customer service email to XeModeX and I'll be calling when you are open tomorrow, but I had the car's original ETM rebuild by you guys in April 2015. Car operated fine until recently. Now I'm getting a lit ETS light and a generic P1108 code. The car surges badly at idle and the throttle can fluctuate at non-idle speeds as well, but that it a bit more subtle. Probably started about 3 mos. or so ago. I thought it was a vacuum leak (since I've also gotten an occasional P0172 code) but now with the ETS light lit I'm starting to think the repair didn't take. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello E Showel, the P1108 code is generally not used for Volvo's, although it does suggest that there may an issue with the heating circuit on the O2 sensor. The ETS light coming on does not necessarily mean the ETM is faulty and can be induced by other factors. Because you are getting the occasional long term fuel trim code try disconnecting the MAF sensor when the car is surging badly and see if it smooths out. If it smooths out replace the MAF sensor. Please feel free to call me @ 1888-712-2525 or email @ [email protected].
