Roof Rack cross bars for '04 V70 from '99 V70 xc

Post by Faust »

Today, I decided it was time to get some Volvo cross bars for the roof rack my '04 V70. I stopped by my local bone yard and found they only had a '99 V70 xc. The profile of the roof rack itself seemed quite similar, but, the rack rails were only 40" apart, as compared to 41" on my '04. Is there any length adjustment in the cross bars? There looks as though there might be.

There is usually an adjustment because roof rails are not commonly perfectly parallel and so when the inner allen key is turned they slide in and out. The same allen key also acts to tighten them to the rails.

I first had Rhino roof bars on my 2000 V70 and moved them over to my wife's 2002 XC70 and they adapted well.
