2005 S60 AWD: Rear stay question

From all I know the towing hook is only used on the front as there's a cutout in the bumper with a thread far behind that. If you were towed from the rear the damage would likely have still happened. Can't see why a cable couldn't have been slung around a front control arm. The tow guys here in Oz either love to use them or fear them and won't use them.

One of my cars came with 2 of them......perhaps I have yours

There are two tow points on mine. Both on passenger side front and rear. The flip down on the front and one flipdown on the rear below the bumperette strip. I had to just run out and verify that it was really a tow point there on the back right rear. Was.

Rear one looks a little sketchy, not how I would have set it up to pull on a 3600 lb car at any other angle than straight back.
I ordered a used one from SleazeBay for $17.85 or something. Never been used by the looks of the threads. The Big 2 (FCP/IPD) don't carry them.

You can set it within or close to the spec visually, just by comparing it with the other side.

How far are you driving it to the shop? I would drive a 10 mile drive at 30 mph late in evening, drop car, ride back.

We do have a toe in/out adjustment tool to get it very close. My issue is that IPD has sold out of their kits and it's a 10 day wait. Veruca Salt in me (and necessity) says I need it now. No desire to keep borrowing cars, and GEICO taking the rental away since it's less than $1k repair (my idiotic deductible I purchased).
Bought a single Volvo stay for $42 and some cheap $14 rear sway links (noticed they need replacement when I was under there)... FCP to the rescue.
Eventually going to go for the full IPD HD upgrades throughout. I have their silicone intercooler coupler/hose to put in and the poly bushing insert kit to put in. Think I'll waste $2 on a PowerBall ticket in far chance of winning, get a Polestar V60 for a family car, an Audi RS7 Performance for myself and it would've been a C40 for the lady.. but it's no longer made.

This S60 would be a full build-up car.

I pulled these poly's out of V70 and threw out another one prepared for XC70. Increased road noise was way higher than steering response (which I frankly didn't notice).

Just did the rear stay swap & sway bar links. I think the old stay looks fine, what a waste of money.

You need to bend that shiny new one to match.

That wrench is not aligned with the stays, neither.

I had my car towed a couple years ago and the guy was pointing under my car at a similar part, saying, "See? Right here's a subframe, I can hook right on there." To which I replied, "um, that's a control arm, not a subframe. Not a good tow point." You really do have to watch out for some tow truck operators. There certainly are good ones, but probably far more with zero care for anything beyond securing the car to the tow truck.

LOL @abscate. Got it eyeballed in last night for toe. Drove ok enough for the 30mi ride to work. Worked out slick that the alignment center I found (not a tire place, they do alignments and frame work specifically) was right next door to work. They could fit me in today, assuming their was a possible cancellation. Dropped car off at 5am. The other customer cancelled!
I am going to patent my "hairy eyeball". I was dead on at spec! The other side was out. Was @ -0.20 toe on front, they brought to +0.10. Car is almost exactly in spec. The only issue was my rear camber is juuuuust outside spec. "When the technician lifted on the car it brought it back into 'the green'." Guy laughed when I said "Maybe if I take out the 75#+ toolbox out of the trunk it'll be fine". "Uhhh... yeah!"
Motoring along happily again. Need to investigate the purportedly torn rack boot next when I put the IPD HD skid panel on. Still need to put the IPD PVC coupler/lower hose on, but I'm happy now. Wish they had a magic wand to fix the turning radius. I go from a Int'l Durastar 254" wheelbase 10-wheel truck at work to a car that has a WORSE (yes, you're reading that right) turning radius. (Truck: 34'9"-35'10" S60: 35'5"-38'9)
