Hello!
I searched and found quite a few threads concerning the whole rear view mirror assembly. My issue concerns the passenger side glass only. While driving down a Pennsylvania interstate the other day, the glass fell out and is presumed vaporized. What remains is the mirror backing (steel?) that is in the same shape as the glass. It has a shallow rim around the perimeter that positions the glass, but does not secure it. Still somewhat visible is the warning "OBJECTS MAY APPEAR SMALLER.....". I have noticed it vibrating lately and should have done something then, but probably would have destroyed the backside reflective coating. Didn't know what was going on.
I purchased a replacement for $82 and will pick it up tomorrow. The blown up parts diagram seems to show this remaining piece is glued on but don't want to go yanking it off - not knowing. Do I need to remove whole assembly and where are the best instructions for that?
Mirrors swing in electrically and blis is installed.
Thank you,
Bank
Rearview Mirror glass only
Okaaay.
I talked to a Volvo guy. He told me to do what I was afraid to. Just peel it outa there.
Hook electrical leads, polarity not important. slide tabs into tab holes, and snap back in.
Have a great weekend.
