2000 v70 ETS question

Hello again

the same 2000 V70 2.4 non turbo. Are the throttlebodies same for turbo and non turbo cars? Also, will a 2001 S80 non turbo throttlebody fit the 2.4 non turbo? I just remembered that I have a throttlebody from a S80 that I parted out a while ago and it was in very nice, clean condition and has the yellow sticker.

From my experience the throttle bodies are the same in regards to they look the same. The software in the throttle body will be different. If you take the S80 throttle body into a V70 the dealer will need to program the throttle body for it to work in the car.

Hello, FCP Euro has a blog on ETM's. I have an 99 V70 turbo that had a failing ETM. I purchased a yeli sticker ETM from EBay, needed no dealer programming. It's been almost a year and no issues. A non turbo ETM will only work in a non turbo and Sam's for a turbo. Just verify the part numbers and you should be fine. A quick note, try to buy a ETM that has a later date. Newer than the one in your vehicle. Good luck!

Excellent news Blkbeauty!!! I thought the same thing since I had to change a TCM recently and just found one at the junkyard with same part # and worked fine!

Unfortunately there were at least 2 different programs for ETMs to suit the 2000 non turbo 5 cylinder. Your chances from fleabay or pick and pull are therefore 50/50.

If you have a Vida/Dice you can look at the program version on the ETM using Diagnostic-Network then click on the ETM icon to view the 2 software part numbers. Use Update link when viewing a new ETM.

If you're unlucky and have different numbers there's a guy here on MVS that does ETM software transfers over the 'net. He's done about 80-90 for me with no problems.

Here are pictures of the label on the throttlebody I have on the one I pulled off a non turbo 2001 S80. And a pic of my ECM, made by Denso, MAF is also Denso. Will this Throttlebody work???

Yes with reprogramming that ETM will suit. A quick test is to plug it into the loom and turn ignition on to PosII. If it powers up does a self - test lasting about 6 seconds then powers down to silent operation it has mated with the ECM and will be fine. If it continues to whine it has not paired. As a non turbo S80 has a Bosch ECM I doubt it will run the same software as a Denso system.

ETM compatability is nothing to do with part numbers as there were only 2 part numbers made. (lots of supercessions though)

All ETMs used to come blank from the factory. Now they come with either turbo 5 cylinder or 6 cylinder software or if you buy one for a P2 five cylinder non turbo it will have that software.

All other variations are programmed by dealers however if they have your car they will likely do a canbus update as they don't want ETM customers knocking on their door due to old firmware.

He matches throttle to ECM not ECM to throttle

He uses Dice as an interface tool but not our Vida. He has his own point to point transfer software that he provides then choose your Dice tool from the drop down list then just press "Connect" while in session and he does his magic.

His handle is doublebug. Name is Henry G. You can Skype him or PM him if you can find his posts. He's a software engineer so knows his stuff inside out. Get the 2 software part numbers from the original ETM as I explained ^^ and he'll handle it without having to copy the old ETM firmware.

Next week he's travelling abroad and he'll be in Munich so account for time difference.
