2003 V70 HID install question

Post by DEMonte1997 »

Hey Everyone,

New member here. I have a 2003 Volvo V70. Historically, I've had GM vehicles but the Volvo I inherited from my parents. It's a very very nice car that I quickly grew fond of.

The only issue I've really had with the car is light output. To try and fix this, I purchased some projector housings for it and installed those along with 35W HIDs. I installed these with a harness and I think you all can see where this is going... now I have the 'bulb failure low beam' warning on the cluster. Any tips on fixing this? I assume there is a way to fooling the system into thinking it is working correctly (because it is).

Thanks for your help. Look forward to contributing here. Will post pics of the ride this week when she gets a bath. :)

Best,

-Rick

There's another thread on this topic, if you search for"03XC70 HID added". It should come up on the search function or you can just look at the recent threads that are on going still since it's a fairly recent thread

*Update*

I got a set of error eliminators and 55w ballasts. That fixed the problem.

what HID projectors did you go with? Considering HIDs for our 04.

it's either that or I upgrade the harness with relays and go for high wattage halogens.

I went with Crazy the God (sold on ebay) projector HLs. The projector itself isn't fantastic compared to the Morimoto retrofits I did in my other cars, but it gets the job done. The HL housing itself is very very nice so I didn't mind spending $ on it.

I might try to retro some new mini H1s in there at some point.

Will get some pics in the coming days.
