So when he came back to the location with a friend, did he fess up? Or was he somehow recognized?

I recognized the guy. It turns out he lives a couple blocks away. So he left the scene, came back with his buddy. They then drove back to the scene and the driver was now a passenger in another car. And they came back to get "stuff" out of the damaged car. But they did not see the police that was behind them also coming up the block. The police stopped and was looking at the damage to my vehicle. I told the police that he was in another car parked on the opposite side of the street. The police went and grabbed 'em.

How sad. Hope you can fix it. But this probably depands on the damage done to the suspension. The bodywork should be fixable.
Working at an auto shop you might know someone who knows someone ...

so the car that hit your was parked close by? SO in other words not driveable since they left it there. Any pics of the damage on the other car?

My condolences.

I bought my daughter her first car last fall, a used Coralla. It was hit and run victim after only two days. Luckily the only damage was a front quarter panel, but I was still pissed.

No huzzaba. My car parked. The other car was moving. He hit a anther car before hitting my car. After that, he tried to leave the scene but his passenger front axle was bent.

Don't bother trying to rebuild it, there is just to much damage. The subframe is cracked which to me indicates possible damage to the chassis leg / frame. At minimum the cars measurements would have to be checked on something like a frame straightener.
Upper control arm has torn the mounting bolt through the bushing on the knuckle, so the knuckle would have to be replaced as its a cast metal part. Forward trailing has damaged the bushings and is likely damaged itself, axle has been streched as the mounting clamp for the boot has come loose, stay arm is probably bent, list just goes on.

No updates yet. Still waiting on the claim adjuster to come out.

I going to try to get as much as i possibly can from my insurance co. Statefarm is my carrier. As far as i know, the other driver does not have insurance.That is according to the police report.
Since my car is A "special edition", Plus maintenance work i have done it in the last year, Will i be able to get a littler more back? My VR had the usual upgrades. Stage 1 Ipd reflash, Ipd sway bars, Snabb intake, Koni adjustable struts up front. front oes Volvo strut brace. How rare is the venetian red 2000 V70R that imported here? I know Volvo imported a certain amount of their R models here to the US.
