Any progress on the leak issue?
My 2004 V70 T5 just started doing exactly the same thing. It drips off the oil filter housing and front of engine oil pain at a rate of 1 drop every 2 seconds when the engine is running. I just replaced the entire thermostat housing about 5 days ago, but just like the OP, it looks to be perfectly dry around it. I'm going to use a bore scope camera tonight to get in behind the PS pump and alternator to see what's going on.
I'd love to hear what you guys discovered.

Update: My leak was between the thermostat housing and the cylinder head. When I installed the new housing, I didn't torque the bottom bolt (yeah, the one you can't see or reach) properly. I put a new gasket on it (as well as a little threebond 1211) and torqued it down. Dry as a bone now.
