Is Mixing Motor OIL safe? 1997 850
Hi, when I took my car to Midas for a oil change they put 5W20 motor oil in my car but I noticed the oil was running low so I added 10W30 motor oil to it, Is it safe to mix 5W20 and 10W30 motor oils? Will it cause any damage or is it ok to mix motor oil. Thanks !

As long as you don't mix Mobil and She'll, you'll be ok.

I hope they didnt put mobil or shell I did a regular oil change I did not do a synthetic oil change is mobil synthetic? Or shell synthetic? They put 5w20 regular oil and I put 10w30 regular oreily auto part brand oil in...

Sorry, it's an old car talk joke. shell+ Mobil gives Schmell.
You can pretty much mix engine oils with impunity

Someone is pulling your chain again!
No worries mixing oils. Personally I don't like to use too thin an oil with older engines as they ran larger tolerances so it is harder for the engine to get decent oil pressure and they tend to use more oil. I now prefer to use synthetic oil when I can as it works better for my cars in the low temperatures we get here in Canada. Use what the handbook recommends for in terms of viscosity for the temperature range your vehicle will be used. Whether you use dino oil (conventional), semi-synthetic or full synthetic is up to you and your wallet. Regular changes are what are needed and more so if you drive the car hard.
