Sitting inside my XC70 2001 waiting and fan starts by its own Topic is solved

Hey guys,
Like the tittle says I just stay inside the car for about 45 and suddenly the fan start running on its own! Scare the hell out of me then I waited not too long to see if it will turn off again on its own but it didn't. I have to go to see my son's soccer game and I didn't want to leave the fan running so I open my door but still running so I put my key on the ignition and turn it to position II and off again and it shut off.
So I am wondering it it is like a safety option when the car detect a person sitting on the car and after a certain period of time it will get some fresh air inside the car so the person doesn't sofocate. Just wondering if it is just like what I said? Thanks in advance for the replies!

The ECC on the P41 cars (thats halfway between a P80 and P2) has a cute trick to stop the evaporator from corroding - it turns on the fan about an hour after shutdown to dry the evaporator - that might be it...

Who sits in a car for 45 minutes standing still when you have Tim Hortons??

Wife's P2 2002 XC70 does this each and every day. It's known as afterblow. It will stop after about 4-5 minutes. Reason is as stated by abscate.

Thank you guys! I know we have tim hortom here but I was far inside from the road and no Tim Horton around, so I just was surfing the web on my phone sitting in the car jejejeje
