Upgrade parts usually means nothing, unless you have an agree value with your insurance before the accident. My advise is to pull the parts and sell them on your own before insurance grab the car, or buy the car back from insurance and part it out.

I going to try to get as much as i possibly can from my insurance co.
And your insurance is trying to pay as little as possible. Don't be insult with the first low ball offer, because that is what they usually do. Do your own homework, try to find cars for sale that is like yours and get their for sale price, then print their ads. Come up with a number that you are happy with and stick with it. R means higher horsepower, awd, and other stuff. Don't let insurance company bully you. If you are not happy with the offer, say, "I'll think about that and give you a call back." Don't be force to make an instant decision.

Search my posts for an insurance write-up. The key to maximizing your recovery here is the "R". It is an "enthusiast model" rarer, priced higher when new, higher horsepower engine, etc. In NJ insurers must base their offer on a car of the same make, year, model, options, mileage and condition for sale within 30 miles of where the car was kept. Ask to see the insurer's comps. I guarantee none will be for "R"s. They will all be for Cross-Countries. Use the lack of matching comps to your advantage to get the offer up.

There is a non official document that says 15 "Venetian Red" '00 V70 R AWD were imported. To put that into perspective: ~40 "Laserblue" '00 V70 R AWD were imported. Black and silver ones across all three model years are deep in the tripple digits.
The only colour(s) as rare as yours would be nautic blue with about 15 imported (split into '98 and '00 MY), emerald green with an unknown number imported (estimate total number at around 10), cassis with less than 10 imported and the non metallic sold red that with an unknown number.

The only comparable car to your '00 R AWD is another '00 R AWD. 5-speed AWD auto, special rear brakes, 2.4L HPT engine and special exhaust system are only found on this model. Don't let them tell you a '99 R AWD is comparable - it isn't. Even has 15hp less.

I'm not sure of the laws in your state, as I live in Missouri. But I thought I would mention this. It may be of some help, since you mentioned the driver that hit you was uninsured. Years ago, I was in an accident involving an uninsured motorist. The particulars of the accident aren't important. But in my case, since the driver of the other vehicle was uninsured, my attorney was able to do something to get her license revoked until she paid me an amount of money that I agreed upon. This was not a predetermined amount, although I do believe that a minimum may have been set. Basically, she could submit offers to my attorney, and I could either accept or deny them. Until this payment was satisfied, she couldn't get her license reinstated. She made a couple of offers that I did turn down. A couple of years later, I got a call from the attorney's office saying that she was making an offer of $2500. Granted, it wasn't enough to fully recoup my losses, and I'd long forgotten about the incident and moved on. But I accepted it, and that $2500 came in handy. Something you might investigate if you want to get a lawyer involved.

Thanks for all of the advice. I been looking up comparable vehicles in my area, I live in Chicago. I have found nothing in my area. One 00'v70r i found was in California that is for sale. The car has less miles about 110k and the dealer wanted 8k.
Currently, I'm waiting on the adjuster who should be here some time today.

I don't know if it helps but here is an '00 R (silver) currently for sale by private party, listed for $5800. Sioux City is not your area but at least it is upper midwest.

Interesting accessories on that one. OEM AWD trailer hitch is unusual on a US spec car. The rubber stripe and edge protectors on the bumpers were an optional accessory; the running boards on the side and the rubber stripes on the roof were meant for V70 XC models.

Update: Ths State Farm adjuster came to inspect my vehicle. The guy was here for every bit of 20 minutes and left. About 45 min. later i revieved an electronic estimate of $3550 in part & labor. I called Sf and it is totaled. So now i have to wait the total loss dept to call me.
