I have a '99 FWD V70 parts car with a non-turbo engine, and an automatic transmission. A friend needs a replacement automatic transmission for a '98 V70 XC.
Would my FWD transmission work for the '98 AWD?
On a related question, would swapping out the AT cause any problems with the computer system?
The problem that they related to me was that the V70XC rolled down a slope while in Park (and parking brake not applied), and that
it is not shifting smoothly. I'm not sure if it's just low on fluid.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Automatic transmission - will it fit?

There are a number of problems with the swap. The turbo and N/A cars have a different final drive ratio and the computer will complain when the speed and RPM numbers don't add up. The '99 also uses digital sensors and the '98 uses analog sensors. That one, the sensors, I think can be easily fixed by just swapping the sensors but the final drive ratio is tough to overcome. The AWD to FWD will present a bit of strangeness and I think the right hand axle seal, or the right hand axle, would have to be changed.
