Hi,
So I have noticed a few times when I am driving that the Tracs light comes on. I am not sure of the exact instances in which it does, I just looked at the dash and saw it. When I shut off the car and then go driving again, the light does not appear anymore. Does anyone know if this should be of concern? If the light comes on and then goes off, would a code be stored in the computer?
If anyone can help, that would be great. I just want to make sure my safety is not compromised.
Thank you!

This has happened in all my Volvos - with and without TRACS. Usually, I overlook it, and it clears itself at the next stop/start, and I've never worried about it. If it's winter time, I quickly test my ABS where I know it's slippery, but I've never had an issue arise from that infrequent ABS light. Also, the ABS system is a PITA to troubleshoot.

Is it just the TRACS OFF light or is the ABS light coming on with it?
The TRACS off light itself will only come on my itself when the traction control has been actively engaged for a set amount of time, it does this so the brakes don't overheat apparently. If your module is bad and causing the traction control to engage while driving for no reason then the same thing will happen.

As I posted previously, my TRACS OFF light is on all the time, used to be intermittent. ABS module was rebuilt by VR (before I knew of Matty Moo). I replaced the switch in dash but no change and was correctly, as it turned out informed by indie Volvo friend that he has never seen a switch go bad. So I'm puzzled about what to do next. Annoyed by the light more than anything. Any light on this subject, so to speak, would be helpful for me as well.
It is only the Tracks off light turning on. If there is a separate light for ABS, I have not see that illuminate. Also, today as I was turning into my complex, i felt a weird sensation in the brake pedal...not sure if any of this has something to do with it.Matty Moo wrote:Is it just the TRACS OFF light or is the ABS light coming on with it?

Please let me know.

I redid some front brake lines last weekend, and had to unplug the ABS sensor. Plugged it back in, but when I started the car, TRACS and ABS light were on. Pulled the wheel, unplugged the ABS sensor again, cleaned the contacts, plugged it back in, started the car and the lights came on again. Went away after about 30min of driving.
Could be as simple as a bad connection.

Yes, TRACS light only for me as well, no ABS light, so I did think to clean everything up just haven't got to it yet. I detect no change in braking, as wackenhut has. My light has been on for months now.
