Got the radiator installed today, that went well. Now if I could just figure out the knock sensor code and cruise control, that would be great.

Check the vacuum pipework for the cruise control. The rubber parts fail.

Knock sensor try just a clean of the connector. Try the simple stuff first.

The vacuum seems to be fine, tested that. And I guess I'm going to pull the intake this weekend to check the knock sensors.

I think there was a TSB for 1996 (maybe '97 also) because years ago I had an updated wiring harness installed when I got a knock sensor code. Last year when I had my engine out to do the RMS, I found this to be about the only place where it was possible to get wire connectors switched. Since you swapped engines, if you have an extra bundle of wire that attaches to a white bracket, you may have this extra harness. If so check for orientation of the wiring. Otherwise, disregard all of the above. :|

Coincidentally, I installed a '96 engine. The knock sensors looked the same, except for the location of the connections. So I had to use the ones that were in the car originally. The car is a '97.

I had loose bolts on both knock sensors (one was almost finger tight) which lead to codes on a 2001 XC70. Taking intake off was the only access.

Don't over tighten them though, the spec is really low. If you crank on a 6 inch socket handle, you will overtorque

Well, it turns out that the cruise control actually does work. I guess I just assumed there would be some kind of indicator light.

Even on the 1999 the cruise light only comes on during engagement, it doesn't even come on during lamp check in key Pos II.

Evan listed on this during his cruise tribulations
