If the 98 is a T-5, or high pressure turbo, 2.3 liter, then most items swap. The GLT in 98 used a 9:1 2.4 liter with a low pressure turbo, the head would swap, but otherwise, you would have to swap as a package (motor, ecu, manifolds, turbo) LPT on a 2.3 would be a dog, HPT on 2.4 can be done with custom tuning and may still lead to head gasket failure (anecdotal info on MVS). Just sayin'

Good points. Check the OP, the parts car is the 94, the one that is for sure a T5.

You can swap a 15g (hpt) onto an lpt motor straight up, there will be zero difference if you don't change anything else. Well it will spool up a little slower around town. The MAF and the ECU (via the tune and the TCV) are what really control the boost in the end, not the turbo.

And yes, you can also swap only the 15g (or 16t) plus injectors plus an HPT ECU onto 95-98 2.4 engine, that has been done many, many times now (over a hundred?), with very few issues. I know Mike (precopster) had trouble recently but that is rare, people have been doing this package swap for years. It is a great way to go.
