Hello everyone,
Hopefully someone can help me with my problem, as right now I'm hitting a dead-end. I'm getting a vibration a speed coming from the rear of the car. A closer investigation shows me the bushing which connects the trailing arm to the subframe is shot. My problem is that I can't find a soul who will do the job to replacement (independant doesn't have the tool it requires, dealership doesn't have the time).
Has anyone here done this job? is it as much of a PITA as the dealer is leading me to believe? What is this special tool and can i find it anywhere? Am I doomed to eternal vibrations?
Thanks in advance
Pieter

I read front trailing arms to cause vibrations when really busted - i.e. bushing is separating from the metal sleeve, but I'm yet to hear a rear arm bushing to cause vibrations. Still, I might be wrong, but how are the rear CV joints? Original/replacement parts?

A dealership not wanting to do a job! That is unusual as they are usually quick to empty your pockets. Probably the dealer want to sell the whole arm to you rather than fix yours. Is it worth looking at a good used one?

CV Joints are fine. I had the car jacked up and it is clear that the bushing is completely shot. I had just changed the front tables, hoping that this would solve the problem (it didn't). My contact at the dealer confirmed this was the culprit, as he has to do the same thing on his R. This job wouldn't be such a problem if the bushing was in the arm, but it is in fact in the subframe (boo!).
Does anyone have vida would be nice enough to send the procedure? It would be very much appreciated.

Dealers don't want to do it because it's very easy to crack the rear subframe, then they will be on the hook for a new one!

I have a dealer locally that does help out when they can. They made the same comment when I did the marathon rebuild on the replacement of the rear sub-frame on my 2000 P80 V70R. It was made easier for them as I handed them the frame and gave them the old one to practice on first as none of the mechanics had done this recently or in many cases at all. Again replacing the whole frame was the safer way to go for them. I can understand their reluctance, but it needs to be done.
