My upper engine mount is starting to go bad, I can see cracks in it. I'm pretty sure all the engine mounts are originals and should be replaced. Are aftermarket engine mounts good to go or should I stick with OEM Volvo?

Avoid URO and probably Pro Parts Sweden for sure. Hopefully someone can chime in with what brands are safe to use.

I went with Volvo for the upper torque mount but it was a pita to get in. If I were to do it again I´d give the PU Units that come with a left and a right part and just bolt together a try. If the additional noise bothers you you can still go the OEM route.

If you have to replace the lower ones go OEM if your 850 is a keeper. If not, don´t do it unless really necessary of go aftermarket.

Since my 96 R is a keeper I´m trying to go OEM / Volvo wherever possible unless something better is available. For my 95 N/A I get the cheapest parts available of off the junkyard of old parts I replaced on the R.

Upper turqe mount bushing is a pain when it comes to replacing the usual ones. There are a few good options for getting it out and the new one pressed around this site. Some have tried some crazy stuff as well, I know I have.

Good videos Robert.

This car was my kids for going back and forth to high school. Now that they're off in college it's evolved into my daily driver/project car. It's not a keeper, but it may become one as I keep working on it. I think I'll go Volvo OEM from FCP Euro for the torque mounts, upper and lower, she shifts hard sometimes between 1st and 2nd if I get into the gas. Lately I've been taking it easy as I don't want the upper torque mount to break. I haven't inspected the front motor mount, the one under the serpentine belt, so I don't know if that one needs replaced or not.
