99 S70 Break Pedal VERY hard/pushes under moderate right turn.

Post by arwidcool »

So this started happening recently maybe a few months at most.

When doing a hard right turn above 90 km/hr or so and trying to break the pedal becomes VERY hard and the car barely slows down at all. I have to put the wheel straight and then it stops no problem.
It feels like I am locking on the break pads when i press it mid turn with anything more then 3-4 oclock on the steering wheel turning right over 90 km or so.
Its only when turning right, going left or straight there is no problem.... any ideas what this can be?

Thanks!

Sounds like you are loosing vacuum to your booster. Check the pipework to the booster for leaks or cracks. Also there is a valve where the vacuum pipe enters the booster and the valves can fail and give you this wooden peddle. Not sure why it would change when turning.

Could be a sign of loose/worn engine mounts, moving motor, leaking brake booster hose?

Neil has you on the right track, shirley.
