Once I crack open the casing and identify the eprom chip I can begin to appreciate the effort involved. The success mostly depends on the type of de-soldering/soldering required.
I can pick one up tomorrow on my run from that silver auto V70 99 I mentioned on the phone. I have my ECU removal tool in the car. Once I get a price I'll call you.

Ok so the eprom chip for immobiliser has been identified and we can now move forward with the proposal of a ECM swap to the manual ECM. It's an 8 pin IC 93C56.
Only problem is that ETM firmware currently on the car may be a later or different version to that which matches the manual engine ECU however we'll need to deal with that once the manual ECM arrives.
I strongly recommend purchasing the Vida disc or downloading it so you can make a full comparison of parts required for the manual swap.

i was looking at a donor car yesterday for all mechanical swap over parts a 97 s70 na with a B5252S motor and m59 5 speed? YV1LS5102V2410555.very high kms but gearbox felt smooth.Might have blown chance cause upset fella i think a bit when i said i wasn't doing anything till i was sure it would all come together,i.e donor car will work and donor manual ecm can be made to work.I think he thought i was there to buy right away but i've got limited funds and time to make too many mistakes so might get second hand auto box to get mrs on the road and also buy compatible manual ecm to get that going for manual swap.

The B5252S is a 10 valve motor again with different engine management (could be Siemens)
Jollys U pull It in Heatherdale Rd Ringwood has that really low k silver car with motor and trans. Nicest low milege P80 I've seen at a boneyard.
You're welcome to my 99 4 speed auto with the cracked rear cover from an 850. Only thing is I didn't ever test it. When I bought the 99 the owner said auto was fine.

cheers mike,i was going to use 97 s70 for flywheel, gearbox, pedal box, shifter, cables, plumbing, slave cylinder possible axle shafts a few switches and stuff i haven't thought of and buy new clutch/pressure plate pilot bearing and mate it to my v70 with b5254s do some wiring and put on Mike sorted denso ecm.Well thats the plan!So still buying manual ecm from germany for you to have a go at.I'll let you know when i get it.In the meantime i'll strip down v70 auto aw50 to see what has gone a miss and go from there.Things have a way of workin out one way or another and gotta take box off anyway.Ive done a couple of enquiries in sydney with regards to the aw50 and i might be ok.So thanks heaps Mike for the offer and i'll be in touch.

The donor car is usually the best way to go and then you can make some change from parting it out.
I didn't know the S70 ever came here with the 10 valve. I've owned an 850 10er but thought the next series went totally 20 valve.

Gday, pulled motor and box out today then pulled aw50-42le apart very carefully ,very grateful i didn't get carried away with buying kits and such. The thrust surface of the case and the immediate surrounding area of the case where the needle roller bearing sits for the underdrive planet shaft has broken apart along with the inclusive underdrive clutch fibres and steels being worn away. The intermediate band has impregnated case pieces in it as does the sprag assembly. So she's toast. An overhaul /solenoid/valve body kit won't help this poor bugger.Found engine mounts x 3,crankcase ventilation system,a cv boot and a shock all not too good either.Timing belt replacement is nearly due as well so i might make my v70 into a project car and buy another vehicle for the wife before she works out she's annoyed. I've taken pictures, seems to take an eternity to load so see how i go.
