SC-901 Volvo amplifier part # question?

Post by scot850 »

I have 2 amplifiers that were originally connected to Volvo SC-901 head units. Strange thing is that I can't figure out why they have different part #'s.

Unit #1 came from a 99 V70 XC and has Volvo part # 9452029. My 2014A Vida copy does not recognise this part number, although it shows up on Tasca's website as a good number, but gives no description as to what the unit specification is.

Unit #2 came from a 00 V70R and has Volvo part # 9496557 (and is the same part number on the amp in my 2000 V70R). I can find no record of this part number other than a reference on this web-site also looking for information about it's specifications.

Anyone have any info that may shed some light on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Neil

You can check this accessories catalog for part numbers on different amps, HU's etc.

I believe it is a 4 x 50 watt, but I couldn't swear to it and that's just based on noodling around on the interweb.

Old thread alert!

I never got a full answer to this. Due to someone asking for an amp, I rashly assumed they had the same amp as I had as they have a V70R but slightly older than mine. I discovered they have the 9452029 amp and I have the 9496557.

Neither part number comes up in Vida, but after more research and going back to the link in this thread, I actually discovered the 9496557 amp is actually under Volvo part # 9496597. How do I know this? I actually found a brand new one in a box for sale! The pictures show the amp as having the 9496557 on the label, but the box has the 9496597 on it! Why Volvo why?

From the link I identified it is an ha-4350 (who made that?) and is a 4 x 50W output.

So going with the assumption Volvo did the same stupidity on the other amp, I have looked and cannot find a cross reference. I have found references to it also being the same ha-4350 amp and possibly the same 4 x 50W output, but nothing definitive. Anyone know for sure what it is and if they are in fact the same thing? I have also seen references to it linked to the Dolby addition, but I'm not seeing why as they are both linked through the radio head (Dolby amp and the under seat version).

I have seen threads saying there is a 4 x 40W amp, but that I believe is the older version behind the radio not under the seat.

Following on from this I was looking at pulling out my amp to test the one I am sending out when I found my radio has a strange short cable connection between the regular amp to radio connector and the radio. I finally figured out this is to allow the inclusion of the 6 disc CD changer and an inline fuse.

6-CD changer connected to SC-901 head unit
Before I go swapping out and trying a 9452029 amp does anyone know if they are actually one and the same? Don't want to fry anything!!

Thanks,

Neil.

Except for the big Alpine V-12 based amps in the C series cars,
you should be able to plug any of the amps into any of the P80s.

Never answered my own question here. The amps are as far as I can see the same. Both amps worked just fine with the SC-901 head unit.
