Stock Radio Swap

My 1998 V70t5 stock radio had an issue with the ribbon on the inside and while trying to replace it, I've messed up two ribbons trying to fix it.

One question:

Are the stock radios for the '98-'00 s70/v70 model cars interchangeable?
(I want to change out my stock radio for another stock radio that is exactly the same)

I know I need to call and get the radio code from Volvo, I'm not worried about that, will there be any other complications I might run into?
I've searched the forums before I decided to post and had no luck..

I'd like to replace the radio in my 850. The volume knob does what it wants to.

I have a spare I would sell for relatively cheap, PM me if you want to discuss.

Or hit up the pick-n-pull junkyard, just be sure to get the VIN so you can easily get the code.

Getting the VIN will usually help but I typically take the radio into the parts counter and let them look it up off of the numbers on the radio itself if I buy one without the code. I don't think that a single one of my Volvo's actually has the radio in it that shipped with the car but then again I have the code written on the side of the radio with a Sharpie on all of them. Most of them out there have the code written down on them if the previous owner ever had to change a battery and go through the hassle of getting the proper code. I had one where they wrote the code down and then used white out on top of the area that they had written it but on mine I don't even try to hide it. Volvo radios aren't exactly a big item at the Pawn Shop or on Craigslist.

Any hand written 4 digit number on the radio will usually be the code.

One point no one has made. If you see an SC-900 or 901 radio (they have the built in 3 CD changer) you will need the additional harness and amplifier as neither of these units have a built in amp.

The amp is under the passenger seat or in older (98 and older) it may actually be behind the radio itself.

You will need the additional wiring harness to connect the amplifier. The harness connects to the non-amp wiring blocks from a regular radio, run down to the amp and back up to the radio. To remove it you need to remove the center console.

Radios swapped. New bulbs put in. Got the radio code.
