Might Buy a 2007 V70

Post by rhlee222 »

Hi Everyone,
I am considering buying a 2007 V70, 2.4, 122000 miles. This is a very clean, fully loaded southern USA car. It has been maintained well. I was wondering what your opinions are of the V70. My daily driver is a 2001 S80 2.9, with 235000 miles. I love my S80 and expect it to last a while. My son drives a 2001 s40, 160000 miles. What do you all think about the V70.

Thanks Much
Rick

Boring
Buy a 2.5T (turbo) BIG difference, plus a lot more standard equipment
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Boring, I agree, but I am buying this for my wife, so performance isn't an issue, for the year, and condition, this is the least expensive I can find.

I love my 2005 MT and the mileage is ridiculous - like 34 mpg at 70 mph. I laugh each time I drive by Jim down in PA...

For 2007 I see only turbo models http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2007/Volvo/S60

Even with non turbo, it still has enough power for city driving. Highway passing is slower, especially in mountain areas or when the car is loaded with passengers. Otherwise I have no issues and it still has good acceleration. The non turbo is really economical on highway, much less in city driving.

The 2007 doesn't have many issues, some owners reported some hard to diagnose electrical issue (ECU or so related). The PCV valve might clogg up - not sure if the design was fixed by 2007. At 140K miles, the shock absorbers are probably worn but won't be noticeable on smooth roads. Front control arms will need replaced, along with the upper spring seat and strut bearing. Same goes for the upper engine mount. Check transmission once warmed up, for smooth shifting 2nd to 3rd.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the responses. I test drove it today. I really like this car. 122000 miles and looks and runs like new, in and out. No leaks, suspension still solid, struts and mounts still good. WIFE LOVES IT. $5999.00. It belongs to me now.
