P0112 air intake sensor

Post by mar601 »

Hi -- just had this go off 10 minutes ago, reset it and it went off again. Just want to know if the car is ok to drive for just several miles till I have time to look closer -- maybe a link to a repair would be appreciated as well.

Big thanks.

Yes. Drive your heart out. The worst thing that can happen is bad mileage and failed emissions inspections...

On a '98, I'm guessing this is the air intake temperature sensor...? Or ambient air temp sensors. Check your air filter (change it if it's due...), clean up the box, check wires for damage, inspect the connections on everything on the air box, and the MAF. Clean your MAF at own risk - they don't always like it. If you do, make sure you use fast drying contact cleaner that doesn't leave residue. Check the ambient air temp sensors, there are 2 of them, replace if cracked or damaged.

I've cleaned the MAF sensor before -- think that's a different code but it needs cleaning anyway probably. Yes it's a 98 T5 -- P0112 say intake air sensor.
Ok -- doesn't sound critical but needing a new air filter anyway etc.
