I was poking around my new s80 and decided to become familiar with the jack points and changing a tire. First thing I noticed was the lugnut wrench supplied in the trunk did not fit the lugnuts...how can Volvo make such a mistake?!?!
After trying some of my larger metric sockets and realizing that none of them fit, I realized there are chrome caps on the lugnuts. I removed them with a screwdriver but realized they are getting nicked up, so there has to be a better way, and there was no tool in the spare tire area that I could find to remove them. So, suggestions on how to easily remove the caps without damaging them?
Thanks
John

I had these caps on my '04 V70. There is a sort of tool that comes with the caps when purchased. It works but I found the caps an impediment to removing a tire. So I replaced all the lug nuts with compatible chrome ones that I liberated from a XC90 at the scrap yard. They were 50 cents each.
Les is more.
