2003 S80 t6 trans programming

I have a 2003 s80 t6 I bought as a project. The trans was bad and was already a salvage yard swap. I got another one from an import yard. A "friend" took over a year to put it in and I didn't make it home before it was throwing codes. I researched it and bought solenoids. Took it to a shop who "diagnosed" and agreed with me. Didn't make it 20-30 minutes and it's throwing codes and in 3rd gear. Talk to a trans guy who does Volvo work and he said it's the wrong trans in it(2003 upgraded trans internals). It drives fine until the computer locks it up. Can this trans(older version?) be programmed to work in my car?
