Beige A-Pillar Trim Pieces - Cloth repaired and great shape!

Post by MadeInJapan »

So, I went out to the junk yard and picked up some plastic A-Pillar trim pieces for my son's S60 because the cloth ones on his were de-laminating and looking shabby. Much improvement with the plastic pieces! After that, I got to thinking about how to fix the cloth covered ones and came up with what I believe is a very good repair- a heavy duty 2-sided tape that those who have used this tape on other things say it is so tough that it pretty much doesn't come off. Once I got them done (I taped them and then ironed the pieces with an iron to even more fully set tape and material), I was wanting to reinstall them in my son's car- these are plush and look nice when they are in the car along with the rest of the matching interior. However, he didn't want them back in the car- he says he likes the plastic ones just fine.

So, I have these pieces that I repaired. They look awesome and I believe that the material will NOT come off of the pieces like they originally did. I'm willing to part with them for $40 + shipping (however you want them shipped). If interested, list up your zip code and I'll check next Monday for actual shipping cost.

Btw, these will replace the trim pieces on '04-'07 V7, XC70 and S60's. I have no idea if they are the same in the S80's or not, but if you find that they cross reference with each other, then maybe for the S80's too. The clips, the black straps at the top of the pieces that keep the pieces from coming loose and hitting you in the face if an airbag were to deploy as well as the bill holder (clear plastic clip) on the driver's side are all in place. I can even offer instructions on how to take the old ones out and replace them with these- it's pretty simple and will take you about 15 mins tops.

Hi there,

I know this is an old post, but ...

I have just gotten a 2007 Volvo S60 with this exact problem. I'm thinking to do what you did and reattach the cloth to the panels.
(In case I can't make it work, do you still have these?)

Would you mind very much to tell me how to take the panels off?

I think it might actually be possible (although very fiddly) to to it while their still mounted in the car, but I'm sure it'll be much easier to do a good job with them on the kitchen table.

All the best,

Torben Lysholm
