'ABS / Brake Service' Alert

New purchase of 2001 V70 T5 2/16. Rear brake pads were @ 3mm and bought new replacements but haven't got around to the install.
This morning 'ABS / Service Brake' alert was on and no Cruise control. All other dash read functions were good.
Does system sense pad thickness to set this off? Will install pads & check all ABS connections today.

So just left work and alert was gone from dash but still no Cruise control.

Usually those lights comes on when there is brake failure or low brake fluid in the reservoir. I would check that first.

Also look at the reluctor rings at front wheels, they rust and even crack

The loss of cruise control is telling you there is a fault in the wheel speed sensor, most probably.

If the fly by wire cars lose any where speed inputs, the software turns off cruise control as a safety mechanism

Serviced rear pads and checked & cleaned all ABS connections.
Problem solved. . . . merci
