Hi guys!
My gearbox broke, and to change it in service is really expensive, also ive already put in more money in that car then it is worth :/
Could you help me with these questions?
1. What is correct code for my gearbox? (in internet there are so many info's and all the time every datasheet tells differently)
2. Is there alternative gearboxes that also fit?
3. How complicated change would be if i do it myself?
4. Is there in forum somebody that sells gearbox for me?
2001 S60 T5 FWD Manual gearbox change
Its a shame that nobody could help me here with info
But for the future readers ill like to let you know what i find out.
They are not rare, so no need looking for alternatives. I couldnt find any in web, but i contacted used part service, and they can hook me up one for 150EUR, and they have couple of them in stock.
Changing gearbox is not complicated, but it takes a lot of time and effort, because basicly you have to take away all of the front suspension and also hang the motor. So if you dont have your own garage or if you need a car in time, better use mechanic servises, because always there can be some ploblems you didnt take in consideration.
I found service that will do all that for 400EUR in Bayarn, Germany.
Good luck future readers with your Swedish Metal !!!

The manuals are really rare over here in the US, I don't remember seeing anyone doing an S60 conversion here.
Good luck with that conversion! You will need a new ECU as your current one will be looking for the old TCM if course. Henry can reprogram your ECM here cheaper than most places though.

I stubed up on new problem.
It seems that my gearbox has a two different sub-models with bigger and smaller thing that goes into motor, and i dont know wich one i have
The car broke down in other City during a trip and now it sits in parking lot, so i have no possibility to unmount the gearbox and mesure the diameter inside, and order new one, with correct size. Have anybody EVER heard about this kind of problem???

You said you found a place that sells the transmission for $150 Euro and a shop to install it for $400...
Let them do the work and let them handle the "potential" problem. T5 means turbo, turbo would have the bigger clutch, if that is a difference.
How do you know your transmission is broken? Oil leak? Broken casing?

The thought about clutch is very good, thank you.
Well there was a grinding sound in gearbox while braking with gears, since i bought it, and afterwards it started sound like that all the time, and an oil leak started and 1st and 2nd gear dissapered.
Have you ever heard about thees kind of sympthoms?

Oil leaked is not a good sign. Gear can grind if the clutch is worn out and make gear shift difficult.
At minimal, I would think you're look at a clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and transmission replacement.

it sounds like your box has failed bearings.
I'd have it rebuilt. A bearing/syncro kit shouldn't be more than a few hundred bucks. As long as none of the hard parts are damaged it's not expensive, and you get a better gearbox in the end with all new bearings and syncros.
