1998 S70 remotes and bad door locks

Took my 1998 S70(138,000 mi.) to dealer to have Ebay acquired remotes programmed for car. Dealer stated that due to malfunctioning door latches/locks, could not program remotes to the car until they fixed the locks. Said when they started the process, alarm light would not light up. Am I getting the right scoop are due they just want the repair fees for the door lock also above the $135 programming fee?

Programming fee is too high.
A door lock, installed, is an easy $250. Part alone is about 140 plus an hour and a half labor. They shouldn't charge you more than a 1/2 hour labor for the remotes plus any software they may need

Thanks for the response. I have taken the lock out of the front passenger door and could not accomplish the repair that is shown either in this forum or on Bay 13. Could not find the EVIL RED LEVER but did find a broken piece of the which plastic linkage. Will have to slowly buy the bad door lock/latches and install @ ~ $135/each for the respective doors. Should save myself a tidy sum but is still a pain in the ____! Then I can finally have the remotes programmed.
