OBD code P1670

My Volvo V70 N/A 2.4 non-turbo base wagon has thrown several codes, one of which is P1670. Someone said it was the antenna ring and that it needed to be cleaned. Is this correct? I looked at all the conversion charts for OBDII to Volvo codes and cannot find 1670 or 0705, 1618. Does anyone know what these are? Please help!

Hi!

1670 can be the antenna ring or bad connections. 1618 is bad communications between tranny and M4.3, and it should set a CEL, me thinks - the TCM will ask the ECM to set an MIL. Yikes...

0705 can be your PNP switch. All in all, it seems you've got some transmission issues. Have you tried clearing them to see what comes back? Do the PNP switch cleaning procedure first, reset codes, and see what comes back. Feel free to start yourself a new topic if you want - it's usually better than resurrecting 11 yr old threads.

Thanks for the information. I cleaned the antenna ring and did the lock / unlock door trick to make the anti-theft system go away. It at least starts now, where it started and died instantly before. I will clean the PNP and go from there, that is, after I clean the throttle body and make sure the MAF is good.
Thank you for the information!! I am learning how to navigate around the forum as I am new! I will definitely start a new thread as my 2000 V70 is driving me up a wall! It has done some of the strangest things but with the help of you and others I think I can get it straightened out ( or I am driving it off a cliff, JK) Never had any sort of issues with my 93 850 N/A 2.4 non-turbo, which is still running strong at 356,080!

Don't drive your V70 up walls or off cliffs. That's what the XC's are for.

I had read this note previously and had taken the antenna ring off to clean it when I found the crack through the whole body of the antenna ring.

There was a CEL on when I bought the car, but it was shown to be a comms issue with the TCU. The dealer mechanic cleared all the codes after he had cleaned all the contacts on the TCY and ECU. The CEL did not come back on, on the return trip or on the few starts since then while in the garage since I started working on it in early January. Car was reversed in the garage about 6-8 weeks ago and no issue then either. It only started (as far as I know) since I tried to start it yesterday. I get the no start sometimes or it stalls almost immediately, on the first key turn, and then starts on the 2nd attempt fine and then the check light comes on after 5-10 secs but the engine keeps running fine?!
