Klaus which oil additive did you use?
I would go with 10w-40 for a bay area turbo if you want Mobil1. And not shy away from 5w-40 (Rotella T6) if that appeals to you. But now we are talking oil so ...

Yep. Runs great and is cleaning up beautifully. Lots of IPD stuff, I contacted original owner who spent a lot of money on it from day one. New stainless exhaust, flashed ecu, silicon hoses, top end at 180,000 by Volvo dealership, stainless brake lines and other upgrades I keep discovering. Single stage paint cleans up beautifully with clay and #7.

I was at Walmart getting 5 quarts of synthetic when I spotted a bottle of RMS leak stop/conditioner. I just cleaned out the PTC nipple and replaced the oil separator and hoped that the RMS conditioner would stop the massive (to me) leak. The oil leak stopped after about 200 miles, even with 10W30 synthetic.erikv11 wrote:Klaus which oil additive did you use?

I think there are only 2 stop leak products on the market. Beats the heck out of dropping the tranny and replacing the seals, and for around $8 it was worth the try.
Eric, you have very good videos!

I saw that car up in Petaluma. Its a good car worthy of restoring it. I would have picked it up but i couldn't find a decent price on a transport.
Its great to know it will be back on the road soon.

PO dumped a pile of salt in front passenger foot well to absorb water and left it there . . . . why salt I will never know as it is so corrosive. I chipped up, vaccumed it out, wetted down the remainder several times and shopped vac'd that out and to my relief, the carpet looked great - I was thinking that the salt would have leached the dye out of the carpet. I will post pics when it is finished -

Klausc...what brand RMS sealer worked for you? I'm not a fan of these but it's good to know what works for a bit at least .Klausc wrote:I was at Walmart getting 5 quarts of synthetic when I spotted a bottle of RMS leak stop/conditioner. Sorry, I missed the response in my Emails. I am using Bar's RMS conditioner. The leak has gone from flood to quarter sized. I just changed the oil, using 10W30 synthetic and another bottle of conditioner.
The engine has been run with positive crank pressure for a long time. The cam seals no longer leak.
