Re: Loss of boost when hot
Disconnecting the MAF whilst running is not recommended. Shut car off, then disconnect. The change in running behavior is normal as the engine goes to a look up table of fuel vs rpm, on the rich side ( mileage will be poor)

Torque pro is really useless with these cars.
I recommend you to go to the dealer or just buy a dice.

Makes it harder with no error code though. Even when it's at its worse.
So today I got a bottle of cataclean it's got good reviews and defiantly a cheaper option for right now to see if it does help for a short time at least seeing as I been quoted between 240 and 500 quid for a cat. I shall let you all know what happens once I've ran it through

Can you run vida through windows 10 with a virtual machine or is it just windows 7?
Also I found out you can bell out or ohms test vvt solenoid (not sure if this would cause the problem but an easy and free check to, heard they can get clogged up and can be cleaned with brake cleaner or similar

Cleaned vvt solenoid, no real difference though when hot.... had no brake cleaner so used wd40, put 12v across it can here it engaging but can't actually see anything moving, so it may be ceased or moving parts may not be visible??
How did the cat clean go?

Well I put it in this morning and drove about 23 miles and I have to be honest and say it does seem a bit more responsive. It got to full temp ok and didn't stutter once. However I'm not holding my hopes just yet as I didn't really get stuck in much traffic. I shall see how it goes over the next day or 2 and I'll let you know. I'd say get a bottle of cataclean from halfords and try it too and we can compare

The CVVT solenoid takes a duty signal and has to be responsive at the frequency to work. A DC test probably won't tell you much.Spuddog wrote:Cleaned vvt solenoid, no real difference though when hot.... had no brake cleaner so used wd40, put 12v across it can here it engaging but can't actually see anything moving, so it may be ceased or moving parts may not be visible??

Well no good. Ok when it's running normal a little bit better however still losing boost when hot. Next step is diagnosis at a cost. I may even check for common split pipes but I really don't think it is that as it boosts fine until it's really hot. Will keep you posted
