Volvo Towing Hitch Taillight Wiring Converter - Part# 114827

Post by atemelon »

I have a towing hitch taillight wiring converter (Volvo Part #114827). Used on one trip for about 1000 miles on my 2004 V70 2.5T. I believe I paid $102 with shipping on Tasca. I will part with it for $60 shipped.

Is this still available? Any idea if it fits the P80 cars?

I bought a Curt brand converter on Amazon for under$50. It is Curt 56146. It is listed as self-powered and that is the IMPORTANT part. The bulb failure check system will go crazy and the capacity of the circuits is not enough when the power to trailer bulbs is from the wires to tail light bulbs. This one uses the tail light circuit connections as inputs and power comes from a battery feed connection you make. On the P80's like yours there is a green/red wire that is larger cauge in a 4 wire connector in the left rear side load floor. That wire is a battery supply Volvo uses for power antenna and CD player. It has enough capacity for trailer feed.
I just looked on amazon, available for $23.84
