P80 Fun stuff

Post by Sommerfeldt »

Had my car in for inspection today, and took it home with a clear bill of health - so that was a relief. You never know what those guys dig up, so it was a tense couple of hours. :D Two years 'til next time, at least, so that's something.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that my right side front shock is toast, or about to be, so I've been looking around for a kit to lower the ride 40mm or so, and found a nice looking yellow set from G&M on vparts.se. I'm also thinking of getting their kit of 4 PowerFlex control arm bushings - can't hurt, right? ;) But, while searching, I came across this: Kaplhenke. Now, here's some real fun things for those who're taking their P80s to the next level.

Anyone heard of these guys before? I especially like the adjustable control arms - looks like something out of a Terminator movie - and the StopTech brakes - though I don't see myself spending 2500 USD on brakes anytime soon...

I'm familiar with kaplhenke. They have the block reinforcement for the white blocks and manufacture delrin subframe bushings along with an assortment of suspension products for our cars. Excellent products that I would love to get but a bit out of my price range right now haha. I really liked that block reinforcement. Think I watched a video on the installation and testing of it. Pretty damn cool.
Always first off the line, while all the cool people are still staring at their phones.

Yeah.... I guess they're a specialty item, to say the least. :D Could be that mecheng has a point too - for anything other than raceways, those might not be up to the paving standards of many places.

Some of the smaller stuff is interesting though, like the subframe bushings and the upper engine mount bushings.

Speaking to local Volvo dealer today and was told the front control arms are now obsolete for 850 autos FWD! I asked them to check if that is also the case for a 98 S/V70 and if they are still available. I asked them to check the part numbers and they are the same and still available!!?? They want nearly $300 for 1!!
