Hi all,
My 1999 S80 A/C compressor stops running (clutch engaging) :
* on hot weather (actually as soon as it is hotter outside than inside)
* after several minutes of wait
* with A/C on
* engine idling (long traffic light or standing on parking)
It will come back if :
1. I turn the A/C off from the dashboard
2. I wait like 3 minutes or so (driving or not, engine on or not)
3. I put the A/C back on
But will die again soon if I stay put.
Other than that :
* all is OK while driving (and not waiting too long somewhere, like heavy traffic jam)
* liquid has been topped up this week with a specialised machine at a local garage
I've searched the forum and read some 850 having "looking alike" issues. Thermal sensor (little box/chip held outside the compressor) often comes up. I understand the compressor gets disengaged if too hot, but I also understood it could be a false positive.
Question:
I'm willing to delete it (the thermal sensor), but would like to be sure I'm not going to eventually kill the compressor. What would you suggest ?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Hubert
