Importing/registering an older car to California?

It's California, emissions standards are an order of magnitude beyond anything in the other 49 states ...

I didn't read any of the links about the dash lights, but it sure sounds like that would all be taken care of with a cluster swap.

Thanks again. But, like I said, my brother needs to do the leg work if he wants the car! Otherwise I'm sure I can sell it locally as a student car and at least break even on it.
