Hi All,
Had the Electrical System Service Message come up on my car along with surging of the engine and lights dimming and brightening with the surging.
My research tell me that it is likely to be the Voltage Regulator or the Alternator.
So, is it possible to isolate the cause, or do I 'take me chances' and do one and not the other?
But which one? I am guessing a new alternator will come with a VR.
All help gratefully accepted. Is there a reasonably priced supplier in Australia? Most things are dear as poison here.
Cheers

Take it to an auto parts store and have them check the alternator and battery. Batteries that are about to go out cause similar issues as you describe as well. And...I would not bet on a new alternator coming with a VR- This is Volvo...they love to take your money every chance they get!
