Trans cooler line baffle....

So, doing the Gibbons method of flush, it seems everything I've read says on the 2000, to use clear hose coming out of the upper port. Got it all set up and the trans fluid flowed from the hose instead of the port. I thought that flow direction started in 2001.
Anyway, I imagine I can clamp/tape clear tubing to upper port cooler line hose and do it that way instead of the lower port...any reason why not?

I don't see any problem with reversing the lines, whatever works. Personally I prefer drain and fills on high mileage cars but it takes a lot longer to get where you need to be. The important thing is that you don't starve the transmission.

Thanks. I did see post about drain and fill, drive 50 miles or so and do it again 2 more times. What do you think about that?

on 2001+ the upper line is the return line. As for drain&fill vs Gibbons, they do the same thing. Gibbons can be used to replace any quantity of fluid at a given moment, there is no need to flush all the fluid. Simply stop the engine when the needed quantity has flowed out. It is much easier because there is no need to rise/secure and get under the car (God forbid people who in a rush only use a spare jack), not to mention the mess when draining the pan.
The potential disadvantage of Gibbons is breaking/damaging the o-rings and clip or trapping some dirt when putting the hose back - it will leak
