2011 XC90 Coolant Leak
2011 XC90 Coolant Leak
Brand new to the forum, but hope someone can help. I just want to verify before taking my car in for repair I hope that I am correct in self-diagnosis. It seems as though every repair so far has run in the $500-1500 range and I want to know what I'm paying for ahead of time if possible. Two days ago the stop engine warning light appeared on my 2011 XC90. I looked under the hood and noted a significant amount of coolant loss in the reservoir. As well, coolant was seen pooling on the ground inside the passenger side tire. The drip appears to be coming from the radiator hose (or coupling). Does anyone have any other suggestions or ideas where the leak could be coming from? I am attaching a picture which shows the dreaded drip. THANK YOU for any suggestions and/or ideas.

I can't really see the drip you are referring to, but that is a pic of the thermostat. It is possible that the plastic is cracked.
whats the mileage?

I've googled in your area, there is a garage German Auto Tech, I'd call them. The main Volvo dealer is making it's profit out of repairs

Hi kdnobert,
Another thought if you wanted to diagnose the location of the leak yourself, just grab a coolant pressure tester and pressurize the system.
Wherever the leak is you'll see it dripping out under pressure.
It does look like its coming from the thermostat housing however.
We have it on our site, FCPEURO.COM, for $99.99.
You can view it here: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 0-31355151
Also, everything we sell is backed by a lifetime warranty.
