01 XC70/81K: Premium gas DOES make a difference

Post by Spoleto »

until a week ago, it hadn't dawned on me to consider why my car was shifting slightly rough going into 2nd. When Volvo inspected and said everything was in very good working condition, they asked what octane level of fuel I've been using, "I said sporadically, I'd go from from 91 octane to 89... most often 89 due to outrageous fuel increases, they suggested I try 93 octane for the next two full tanks, and sure 'nuff, the shifting and drive improved remarkably.

A few pennies more per gallon is definitely worth it!

I have always used the highest grade gas to power our Volvos. The difference between the price of the regular and the premium is so insignificant that I figure to stick with the premium.
