Vented, just a weird angle! Same as the old ones:

Bled the brakes and roadtested it, all seems to be well... jammed and slammed at 60mph with nary a screech, no trouble lights on the dash.
Next up is dealing with the rears... gotta recover from this round first tho.
Much thanks to all who commented, and to the folks who posted their how-to's!

Jay, you are probably going to find the rotors are fine but the drum part inside will be nasty, especially if the parking brake hasn't been used.

Yea... ebrake only been used rarely, definitely needs re-adjusting, probably new spring & shoes. Visual inspection has me hopeful the rears will be less of a rabbithole but as you say, the real mess lies inside the drum. Gonna be checking back on the bookmarked overhaul/repair threads here quite a bit methinks.

Insides are often a mess as everyone thinks the parking brakes are fit and forget. They need to be cleaned and services annually if you do lots of miles.

The 'mess' is if the parking brake cables are seized or broken at the mounting point on the rear shock lower bracket. With the rear brakes in bits, have someone pull slowly on the parking brake lever and see if the cables move smoothly, then have them release the lever and pull a little on the end of the cable at the wheel and see if they move back. If not, then you have to drop to the rear jacking points and front stay bar brackets to replace the parking brake cables. Hours of endless fun!!

I’ve been taking to adjusting the parking brake every time I swap summer/winter tires on my cars. That keeps the shoes tightly radiused to the drum like they should be.

The real reason to bump this aged threD is reporting on Cardone reman.

They are using silver cheese in their pistons and I’ve rusted news ones solid stuck in under 24 months. FCP replaced of course but I don’t wAnt to do new brakes every 2 years

Parking brake still needs doing here lol.
Contemplating selling it, unsure how much work to put into it for what I might get for it.

You will definitely empty the bank account of a kid with an R, but he will probably put a Subaru trunk scoop on it
