2006 XC90 Parking Assist.

Post by cantgrumble »

Warning light shows 'Parking assist service required'....Will I be lucky enough for the problem to be a simple fuse ? Or as per my life story the problem will be more complex. How would you diagnose / solve the problem.

Thanks.

I feel your pain. I have two v70 xc's and one stalls and one overheats. First, I am guessing your car was never lifted, correct? Second, I am also guessing that you cannot see any visual damage to the sensors. Also, when you put the car in reverse, does it constantly beep, or does it not work at all?

Hello....thanks for reply....The car has never been lifted, and the 'beeper' does not beep when put in reverse or about to hit a brick wall.

Hope this helps.

So it is probably not too damaged, if at all. It might just need to be reset/recallibrated

Thanks for that,

Well it is not the fuse,I have ruled that out.
When you say reset/recallibrated dies this involve a garage with diagnodtic equipment and how expensive is the job likely to be.

Thanks.

There are 4 rear park sensors on the rear, yes ?

They may need ALL replacing (you can use Land Rover parts or Ford,as they are the same) or your ECU, situated behind the rear left interior 'turns' surround. Its a black box. Sometimes the wring loom goes faulty too. Id start with replacing the sensors as they are the cheapest.

Do you have access to VIDA to check the fault codes ?

I agree with Colinbos - if you can, read out the fault codes and see what the car thinks the problem is before just randomly replacing parts.
