My Flaps (Advance) is cheaper, faster and going there supports a business that's useful. Lines at Walmart are 10-15 minutes minimum in comparison

That's a good point.abscate wrote:Marketing myth.bmdubya1198 wrote:Walmart is great for oil. Always much cheaper than anywhere else.

I usually use the automotive counter to check out at Walmart. It's much quicker unless you have some guy trying to get a better price on his cabin filter installation or something...

I was trying to get them to warranty their 99 cent hockey pucks as suitable for manual shift bushings - and then get them at BOGO. Sorry I made you wait....bmdubya1198 wrote:That's a good point.abscate wrote:Marketing myth.bmdubya1198 wrote:Walmart is great for oil. Always much cheaper than anywhere else.

Still smarting from that BMW OXS job last week - but SWMBO reports 27 mpg on her upstate NY highway trip - up from 24 mpg on the X3 E83 M54. Maybe I can get my P2 back.

Not bad at all... but they don't carry Mann filters. I'm very particular!zhenya wrote:FYI Mobil 1 is $29.99 for 5qts with a free oil filter right now at AutoZone.

Parts came today, so looks like I'll be having a fun weekend e-brake rebuilding project. Also, just heard a radio add from the local Autozone "Valvoline high mileage synthetic $25 with free filter." Gonna have to make a stop.
On another note, just picked up some wire and waterproof connectors. Going to be extending the wiring harness from my rear O2 sensor so that now I can actually plug it in, and hopefully get rid of the CEL. Then all lights will finally be off!

I run Valvoline 10w30 synthetic in my car. It seems to be a good choice!

It's time for some pictures (to help you help me figure things out.
1.) I feel like this should be plugged into something. Right behind the driver's side headlight.

2.) Pulled the TCV off of the air box. (Yes, I know I need to clean the air filter.) I'm no expert, but I think there should be a third hose connected to the "blue" end.

3.) There appears to be some oil staining on top of the turbo.

4.) Originally, I thought the previous owner just spilled some oil while he was pouring, but there appears to be more oil now. Hoping this is as simple a fix as replacing the seal in the oil filler cap?

Battery/ground cables, battery, alternator are in great condition, there is no issue here.WhatAmIDoing wrote: Measured the voltage of the battery with the engine off at 12.5 V. With the engine on ~13.8 V, and read ~13.8 V with all lights, stereo, and A/C on. Could not find the positive terminal on the alternator (kind of buried in there), so need a little more direction on where to find that.
