Has Anyone had any expereince with the Meyle HD Control Arms on there P80 Volvos?

Post by AhmedS70 »

Hello Guys

I was just told that I need new comtrol arms today because of the noise comeing from the front end. As I shop around on FCP Euto I see that the Lemforder ones are for $104.99 each. But the Meyle HD Ones are for only $56.95 each. So there is almost a $50.00 difference in price plus they come with the Meyle HD 4 year warranty. I saw the reviews on FCP on the Meyle ones and they are pretty good. Has anyone in here had good or bad experiences with the Meyle HD Control arms in here. I need some advise before I decide which way to go.

Thank You

Ayaz Ahmed

I have used them on one of the cars, I can't remember which one though. At any rate I have not had to replace it again but then again three of the cars have either been sold or wrecked but that would have been at least a couple of years between me replacing them and the cars going away.

The bushings are a bit more complaint than the OEMs and that made me wonder about how well they would hold up but they seemed to do just fine.

If you intend to sell the car in the next 6 months Meyle may work, but then again it's passing the issue to the next owner. With controls arms there is a single option to last over 1 year, Lemforder. FCP, Eeuroparts and IPD sell both junk (Febi, Meyle) and good parts (Lemforder, Sachs).

As for the warranty, it works this way: they fail after 6 months, they send you the same, you pay again for the labor. Warranty is a trap when it comes to wear parts.

6 months with one Febi, the construction quality looked good and it was Made in Germany. I will report back with more age.

I threw on Meyle HD Control Arms last fall. I've put on 20,000 miles since then, but the vast majority of that has just been highway. They've held up fine.

I have 6000 very expensive, urban, pothole-ridden, NYC miles on some Febis. No problems thus far!

I felt comfortable buying the Meyle HD kit that includes those control arms, tie rods, and endlinks based on the reviews. I've only had them on the car for a few days so that isn't enough time to judge their quality.
